I’m really picky with devotional books. Not only do they have to have content that stirs passion for Christ inside me, I also do judge devotional books by their covers. The last devotional I received was great on the inside, but the pages were stiff and I had to press down on them to make them stay. The binding creaked as I opened it, the fake leather squeaking as well.
I had heard great things about Jesus Calling, but I wasn’t really interested. I had my favorite devotionals already, plus it just wasn’t a book that looked physically appealing. I feel so bad for admitting I judge books that way, but it’s true.
When I came across a new version of Jesus Calling, with a beautiful cloth cover and larger text, I knew I’d fall in love right away.
I feel encouraged to open up and read it not just because of the inviting cover, but because it really lives up to the hype, it really does feel like Jesus is talking through the pages – as if he’s sitting next to me, giving me a one-on-one bible study.
This Jesus Calling version is a great choice for a gift for the woman in your life.
