A Love Letter Life | Book Review

a love letter life

I’m not a hardcore fan of the Roloff’s (the authors of this new book) and I received this book free to review in exchange for my opinion. Neither of these two things affected my review of “A Love Letter Life”.

The core principles that guide this book is solid and I’d recommend it to several of my younger friends & perhaps even my sisters once they are old enough.

Finding God in the Shadow of Doubt (Book Review)

“How do you deal with the hard questions about God, the church, and the Bible? Where can you find a safe place to openly and honestly wrestle with your faith without being criticized or judged? If you have ever struggled with doubt, you are not alone.

Writing with humor and candor out of his own experiences, and incorporating Scripture, literature, and accounts of others who have doubted, Dominic Done argues that not only is questioning normal, it is often a path toward a rich and vibrant faith. Whether your struggle is with tragedy, the difficult parts of the Bible, the intersection of science and faith, or even God’s silence, you can move through doubt into a deeper, fuller faith—a faith that doesn’t run from questions and the hard work of honest wrestling but instead embraces the mysteries of belief.”

I grew up believing that if I had doubts about God or heaven or the purpose of my life, I was a bad Christian. I wasn’t specifically taught this by any pastor or Christian friend, but it became something that was implied through lectures I’ve listened to throughout my life.

I was taught, more or less, that there is no room for doubt & we as Christians should not doubt God…I was not taught that doubt is a part of our sinful world and that every single Christian, including Mother Theresa, had doubts at some point in their lives.

When I received When Faith Fails for free in exchange for my opinion, I figured it would be just another book I’d toss on my pile to donate to my fellow reader friends, but within the first few sentences, I was pulled in.

This book doesn’t claim that doubt isn’t sinful or anything like that, it just gets the point across that Christians have doubts about the world, about God, about Jesus, and about eternal life. With so many unanswered questions in the world, it’s natural to question.

I LOVED this book because not only did Dominic Done go over how all of us doubt at some point in our relationship with God, he also goes over ways to overcome that doubt and how to change that doubt into faith & how to see God within our doubtful minds.

I highly recommend this book to…well, everyone! It was such a wonderful read.

Book Review | Tiny Truths Bible

I picked this book by the cover because I wanted my son to have at least one Christian book that represented what Jesus would have actually looked like. I’m so glad I did because this book is so amazing!

My son is 2.5 years old and is starting to enjoy reading stories together. He has a bible for babies that he’s outgrown and his other bible is a little too old for him, but this one is perfect. He wanted me to read it in one sitting. It captures the excitement and joy of the gospel and I’m so blessed to have been able to review this.

While I did receive this book free, it has not influenced my review and I recommend the book to my family, friends, and readers.

What I Read | Jesus Calling

I’m really picky with devotional books. Not only do they have to have content that stirs passion for Christ inside me, I also do judge devotional books by their covers. The last devotional I received was great on the inside, but the pages were stiff and I had to press down on them to make them stay. The binding creaked as I opened it, the fake leather squeaking as well.

3 Christmas Gift Ideas for Christian Ladies

Christmas is around the corner and I’m sure many of you have purchased your gifts through Amazon during the Thanksgiving weekend. I sure did. There are a few people left on my list and are particularly difficult to shop for because I’m not too familiar with the types of gifts they enjoy receiving.

My Honest Opinion About Felix Gray Glasses

This post was sponsored by Felix Gray. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve always hated wearing glasses. Finding the right fit is so hard, Google searching “what type of glasses look good on my face shape” is conflicting, and honestly I’ve never found them comfortable.

The last pair of glasses I got in 2016, I was prepared to wear these 24/7. I needed to wear them, I didn’t want to wear contacts, and I figured it was time to jump on the glasses trend.

My husband and I went to VisionWorks and the experience was average. The issues I had with the eye doctor is a completely different story I’ll share another time, but I went home with thin frames and paid extra for the glare protection.

They were comfy, looked decent for the price, but within a few weeks the glare coating started to peel off! They said it was a user error and I had to deal with brand new, peeling glasses that gave me awful headaches because I worked on my computer a lot. And then my 1 year old bent them.

Before I decided to look for new glasses, I had become a fan of Felix Gray glasses – wonderful reviews of computer glasses that protected your eyes from staring at screens all day. I never pursued it because they didn’t offer prescriptions until just recently.

When I started my search for new glasses, I considered checking out Warby Parker but heard they didn’t really treat influencers and bloggers very well. I started talking to Felix Gray about their frames and unique lenses, and ordered a pair of Kepler frames.

They were so cute! I love them but they were a tad too small, so I was able to do a free exchange for their largest frame, Jemison, in “Whiskey Tortoise”. The customer service was amazing and both glasses were shipped quickly. I had no problems for my first time ordering glasses online.

Here’s what the Felix Gray glasses look like…

Not only do I think these glasses look beautiful, they are so comfortable and I have not had any headaches or eye strain. I’m not sure if I’ll ever want to own another brand of glasses aside from Felix Grays.

Here, see for yourself.

The Best Natural Stain Remover

I found the holy grail!

The ultimate product for everyone…particularly mothers and clumsy individuals.

I was given some Puracy products to review – I’ve heard about them through my “crunchy” friends, as Puracy is a natural, plant-based company for environmentally safe home products.

I didn’t expect to fall in love with the stain remover, because let’s be honest, I had given up on removing stains. I’ve ruined so many white clothes, I’ve stopped wearing the color altogether. Baby blowouts? I just threw the onesies away.

When I saw the claims about Puracy’s stain remover, I laughed in disbelief and figured I could have some fun with seeing if the praise was worth it.

I took a white shirt I never wore, covered it in various fridge items. It was really fun. I followed the directions, sprayed the remover, and threw it in the wash.

It came out like this:

All the stains came out except for the lipstick. Go figure, right? I had really wiped a lot of lipstick on the shirt and I didn’t exactly follow the directions because tough stains, you are supposed to scrub and let sit overnight.

I listened to the directions and tried again, hoping I didn’t ruin my last white shirt. I also took my father-in-law’s white shirt…the shirt that’s filled with little food stains from months ago. I wanted to test the limits of the stain remover.

I soaked both shirts overnight, washed, and dried them. My mother-in-law and I were practically screaming when we saw the pristine white shirts. Both shirts! This must be a trick right? Or I took photos of the other side of the shirt and am lying?

I am not lying. I called my mom and sister-in-law to share the amazing news and I’m just ecstatic to finally be able to wear white again. I’ll sing the praises of the Puracy stain remover until the day I die. And I promise, I’m not just saying all of this because they gave me the products to review, this is my honest opinion and I’d never endorse a product I would buy for myself or suggest to my family.
